Overview
At Sosnovy Bor on the Gulf of Finland west of Saint Petersburg, the first plant to run RBMK-1000 reactors, starting in 1973. The old RBMK units are being retired and replaced by VVER-1200 reactors of the Leningrad II project. It is a major power supplier for northwest Russia.
