Overview
The main nuclear research center of North Korea, north of Pyongyang. Its 5 MWe graphite moderated reactor and reprocessing plant produced the plutonium for the first North Korean bombs. The cooling tower was demolished on television in 2008 under a disarmament deal that later collapsed. A uranium enrichment hall and an experimental light water reactor have since been added.
