Overview
Four RBMK-1000 reactors north of Kiev. Unit 4 exploded during a safety test in April 1986, the worst nuclear accident in history, forcing evacuation of 350,000 people and a 2,600 square km exclusion zone. Units 1 to 3 ran until 2000. The New Safe Confinement arch slid over the ruin in 2016 enables century long dismantlement.
