Overview
Built at Oak Ridge, Tennessee for the Manhattan Project, its calutrons enriched the uranium used in the Little Boy bomb dropped on Hiroshima. Today it manufactures and dismantles nuclear weapon components and stores the US inventory of highly enriched uranium. In 2012 an 82 year old nun and two fellow activists broke into its high security area.
