Overview
The only nuclear power plant in Bulgaria, on the Danube. Its four older VVER-440 units were closed between 2002 and 2006 as part of EU accession. Two VVER-1000 units still supply about a third of Bulgarian electricity, and new Westinghouse AP1000 reactors are planned for the site.
